Key Information

  1. MISSION STATEMENT:
Evangelical Bible College (EVBICOL) is committed to the task of assisting the Church of Jesus Christ to carry out the Great Commission. Specifically, we seek to do this by providing a quality education in BIBLE, THEOLOGY, MISSIONS, and related courses, which will equip Christians to minister the unchanging Gospel of Christ to both the Church and the world in such a way that the full implications of Christ’s lordship are experienced in all realms of life and service.

  2. HISTORY, AUSPICES & AFFILIATION:
EBC began in 1978, with Rev Joe de Beer as its first principal. Classes were held at the Greenhaven Evangelical Bible Church, but later moved to the EBC campus in Camp Drive, Strandfontein. The College works under the auspices of Evangelical Bible Church, a Christian denomination which at the present time has affiliated churches in South Africa, Swaziland and Zimbabwe. While administered by a specific denomination, the college is open to students from all Christian denominations. It is affiliated to TEAM (The Evangelical Alliance Mission) whose field office is in Florida, Gauteng, with its USA office in Wheaton, Illinois, USA.

  3. ACCREDITATION (listed under current projects):
The college is no longer continuing as a satellite campus of University of Zululand. It has recently signed a contract of association as a Centre of Learning with South African Theological Seminary (SATS). This link does not rob the college of its individual status as an independent educational institute, but it does mean that the college can teach accredited subjects which lead to a recognised Certificate, Diploma and Bachelor degree.

  4. COLLEGE BOARD:
This consists of the eleven men who serve on the National Council of the Evangelical Bible Church. The National Council Chairman of The Evangelical Bible Church is also chairman of the College Board. The members of the College Board are chosen by the Annual Conference of the Evangelical Bible Church.
